Small procedures, done at the clinic
Many orthopaedic problems need a small procedure rather than a big operation. Our sterile minor OT lets us do these in the same visit — with local anaesthesia, no hospital admission and no extra hospital bills.
Procedures available
- Plaster, slab and splint application — including fibreglass (lightweight) casts
- Closed reduction of simple fractures and dislocations
- Joint injections — knee, shoulder (frozen shoulder hydrodilatation), heel and tennis-elbow injections
- PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for tendon problems and early knee arthritis
- Trigger finger and De Quervain's release
- Ganglion and small lump excision
- Abscess drainage, wound debridement and dressings, including diabetic foot care
- Removal of K-wires and small implants
What to expect
- Consent and preparation — the procedure, risks and aftercare are explained; the area is cleaned and draped.
- Local anaesthesia — a small injection numbs the area; you stay awake and comfortable.
- The procedure — usually finished within 15–45 minutes.
- Aftercare — you rest for a short while and go home with written instructions and a review date.
Keep the dressing dry, keep the limb raised for the first day, and call us if you have increasing pain, fever or discharge from the wound.
